Alright. I'll start all this business off tonight. My name is Joe Hess. I am of course the bass player and back up vocalist of Sleep State. Sleep State is a 3 piece a bit south of St. Louis, MO who specializes in experimental music and new ideas and electro acoustic progression. Our music is a group of improvisations set within fixed parameters to encourage awareness of own thought and purpose. Our website is www.sleepstate.tk and mp3s both studio and live can be found there as well as concert information.

(this topic should really be in the music section, but i hadn't added it before someone posted it here, so oh well. but in the future, let's keep this kind of stuff in the music section.)
My name is Curtis, and I'm the guitarist/vocalist/sampler of Sleep//State. Since Joe already described our band in perfectly woven english, i won't add to it. I'm just trying to get in on the introductions.

Alright man! Thank you for joining the forums. We definitely welcome experimental improvisational groups. Sleep State does quite a bit of improvising in their set, as well.

hello, my name is josiah mark wetzel. I come from the magical kingdom commonly known as creve coure. being born in a far off country I have known many lands as my home. I was raised by a powerful wizard during tragic times; my life has not been ordinary. I have been called upon by far powers greater than myself to transcend the dividing nature of the genre based music scene, and embrace all innovative heart felt music that draws upon unification as its source. at first my task felt daunting and much to great for one such as me. however after spending many an hour contemplating the importance of the mission I have finally come to the conclusion that in realizing my goal I have in fact achieved it. I would encourage all those who are reading this to consider these questions: what is the purpose of the music we create? why is it important that people hear it? and why are you still reading this self indulgent post? the answers to these questions just might be cause for further reflection (or possibly a trip here----> www.myspace.com/jmw1986 ) ...

So, Kramran, with all these electronic elements involved, do you put on performances, and if so, how do you conduct them?

hey, i'm loren... I play the drums in no such monster. we play post punk with a very heavy dance influence. We like to dance, we like our audience to dance too. We're very self motivated, but not really out to get signed, we just love music, and love to play it for whoever will listen.
i also run an independant recording studio out of my parents basement.

I've played with No Such Monster. An awesome band to play with. Just a really cool, positive and outgoing crowd, and a great performance. Same with Locker 280.

I'm Kurt Boyer, and I play drums & sing very bad backup vocals in two local bands, Gothic Blues Quartet and Elements Of. Gothic Blues Quartet is an experimental, retro-progressive band which has recorded 2 albums and a few live shows, and toured the region in spring '05. The band hopes to record again and tour nationally in '06. Elements Of is a Red Sea house band which plays jazz, rock, blues, and punk, tricked-up covers, postmodern originals and spontaneous improvised music. We host the Elements Of show series (for new and experimental artists) each Thursday night. We've enjoyed playing with Sleep State and even worked with Joe H. on bass for a week or two until a bout of illness forced him to step away.
Personally I'm mid-twenties, live in Webster Groves and enjoy tea, opiates and the occasional gourmet blunt, though I don't drink or smoke (cigarettes). I work as chief booking agent of the Red Sea nightclub, a well-intentioned if age-restricted venue. I've contributed to Stlscene.com as a music columnist (Larks Tongues in Aspic), and serve as Zach Weiss's 1st mate in UnderworldX, a production team which has graced venues such as Pop's, Hard Rock Cafe & Long Memorial Hall in Farmington, MO. I'm single, polyamorist and somewhat pagan/agnostic. No long walks on the beach, either, smartasses.
My favorite national bands include Mars Volta, good old Sonic Youth and Mastodon. I also dig local bands such as Polarized Mind, Team Tomato and Nashid.
